Art Work

Had some great news this week that the artis Simon Welford had an exhibition in Leicester of his work and one of the pieces was a reproduction  of one of my Photographs of Tim Burgess of the Charlatans. Simon had told me it was going to happen but it was still great to see it. Ive included the press release below and a couple of pics.  Makes a nice change from being a manchester wedding photographer.

Thank you Simon I'm honoured

Creating Waves After finding they had much in common, artists Alex Lowe and Simon Welford have combined forces to launch their first joint art exhibition ‘Creations’ which opens at Fabrika, Leicester in November.

Alex was the front man of 90’s Britpop stars Hurricane #1 who were signed to the infamous Alan McGee label Creation, enjoying two top twenty albums before main songwriter Andy Bell departed to join Oasis and the band split.

Simon is an up and coming artist who has worked with Andy Bell’s original band “Ride” and also contributed to the recent movie ‘Upside Down’ about Creation Records. With both having common ground having worked with bands signed to Creation they got chatting and the idea of working together was born.

Both predominantly abstract artists, ‘Creations’ will see both artists exhibit around twenty pieces between them during the two week run which begins with an invite only preview show on November 7th. “The preview show is shaping up to be a fantastic event” explains Simon. “We have invited not only existing fans of our art but also friends and acquaintances from the music business to have a sneak preview of the exhibition. Creation Records legend Alan McGee is doing a DJ set on the night and some really exciting people are confirmed to be attending”.

The exhibition at Fabrika looks set to be a popular attraction. Simon’s previous work has sold as far afield as Japan and the USA and he staged exhibitions in Sydney, Australia last year which were well received. Alex has an established fan base through his solo music and with Hurricane #1 coupled with famous buyers of his art such as Mike Tyson, Woody Allen and Donald Trump. Both are hoping the exhibition will be a springboard to an exciting new journey and with more dates around the UK talked about for 2012 they may be creating waves for the foreseeable future. ‘Creations’ runs from 7th November 2011 at Fabrika Independent Art Gallery, Humberstone Gate, Leicester for two weeks.

For any further information or request for images relating to the exhibition please contact Simon Welford at simon@wayupthere.co.uk

I want this one now

OK how do I do it I want this the new Nikon and the Fuji ....

Equipped with the same high-performance technical specifications as the standard Leica D-Lux 5 model, the Leica D-Lux 5 Titanium includes a fast 5.1 - 19.2mm f/2 - 3.3 ASPH. zoom lens with a focal length range from 24 to 90 mm (35 mm equivalent), suitable for a wide variety of situations including wide-angle landscape and macro photography.

The camera’s 1/1.63” CCD image sensor, with a resolution of 10.1 megapixels, is unusually large for a compact model, and is perfectly attuned to the Leica lens together with the electronics and software, producing images with outstandingly natural colour rendition, superb sharpness and high contrast. The exceptionally fast maximum aperture makes it an ideal camera for ‘available light’ photography.

With clearly laid-out menus and straightforward operation of its comprehensive range of features and manual settings, the versatile Leica D-Lux 5 Titanium offers intuitive handling in all photographic situations, from creative image design to spontaneous reportage-style shots, as well as when using the camera’s 1,280 x 720 pixel HD movie recording feature.

The camera delivers images in 4:3, 3:2, 16:9 formats as well as 1:1, a particularly interesting format for creative composition. Furthermore, the 3” LCD screen, with its wide viewing angle and 460,000 pixel resolution, enables accurate framing and composition, as well as high quality, detailed image review.

The Leica D-Lux 5 Titanium comes with (as a download) Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom® 3, professional processing software that allows photographers to develop RAW image files and maintain complete control over the development process applied to their images. The high quality, complementary grey calf leather case is included in the set.

The Leica D-Lux 5 Titanium special edition set is scheduled to be available in the UK at the end of October 2011 at an SRP of £855 including VAT from authorised Leica dealers including the Leica Store Mayfair: www.leica-storemayfair.co.uk, tel: 020 7629 1351.

New Barker mobile

When I first bought the Land River Discovery it was because it had space for Debbie's scooter and it was cheap. After running it for 4 weeks I love it for so many other reasons. Space for my
Camera gear, ride hight, and people get out of my way. I am even considering joining the land rover club . Well maybe not.
